NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Mineral County proposes to expend Secure Rural Schools (SRS) and Community Self-Determination Act Title III funds.
Pursuant to the SRS Act, the county is providing a 45-day public comment period to allow citizens and stakeholders to review and comment on the intended use of these funds. Title III funds may only be used for the following authorized purposes:
- Search, rescue, and emergency services (including firefighting and medical evacuations).
- Community wildfire protection plans (including carrying out hazardous fuels reduction on non-federal lands).
- Emergency response planning (including preparing and maintaining all-hazard evacuation and emergency response plans).
- Broadband telecommunications services (providing or expanding access to rural areas).
Proposed Projects for Fiscal Year 2026
The County intends to allocate a total of $250,000 of Title III funds to the following projects:
- Fire Well Construction at milepost 7.5 on Highway 149 – Drilling and construction well and standpipe to provide fire protection to areas between South Fork and Creede
